It's the neighbour who waves you down to let you know you have a delivery sitting on the porch, or the person who sends a welcome message the week you move in, or the community group that quietly organizes community events to bring us all together.
At Nextdoor Canada, we get a front-row seat to millions of these moments every day. This year, we've analyzed those interactions to identify the places in Canada where community connection is strongest. What We Looked At
Because our rankings are built entirely from real neighbour interactions on the Nextdoor platform, this is a list that only we could publish. No surveys, no self-reported data — just an honest look at how neighbours actually show up for one another.
The Nextdoor Friendliness Score works like an index: each city's friendliest neighbourhood receives a top score of 100, and others are ranked in relation to it. We looked at a range of signals, including the tone of neighbour posts, how often requests for help or recommendations got fulfilled, how many items were shared for free, whether new neighbours received a warm welcome, and how actively residents supported local businesses.
To make sure the rankings are meaningful, we only included cities with 10 or more distinct neighbourhoods.
