Spread kindness by donating to Daily Bread Food Bank

For many of us, this holiday season looks and feels very different. Unable to gather with family and friends, many of us may feel a sense of loneliness during this traditionally festive time.

According to a global study conducted by Nextdoor in partnership with a team of leading loneliness experts, performing small acts of kindness helped reduce the likelihood of feeling lonely. The study also uncovered that knowing as few as six neighbours reduces the likelihood of feeling lonely and is linked to lowering depression, social anxiety, and financial concerns related to COVID-19.

Across the country, 76% of Canadian neighbours reported experiencing feelings of loneliness during the pandemic.  At the same time, food bank use continues to rise dramatically, highlighting the issues that come with food insecurity. We want to encourage our members that we can help combat these issues together. This holiday season, help spread kindness by donating to Daily Bread Food Bank.

Or, better yet, use Nextdoor to safely join forces with six of your neighbours to fundraise and or ‘foodraise’ (contactless, of course) in your neighbourhood. Your donation will not only help fight food insecurity; it will increase your feelings of well-being while helping to foster stronger connections with your neighbours this holiday season.

Visit dailybread.ca to learn about how you can support Daily Bread Food Bank and encourage your neighbours to do the same. You can also check out the ‘Stops Map’ tab in the Rocketman app to find a food donation bin nearest you.
