What a difference a year makes!

Nextdoor officially launched in Canada last September and with the help of neighbours like you has quickly grown in neighbourhoods across the country.

From Victoria to Conception Bay, we’ve been utterly wowed to see how neighbours have come together. Thank you to all our members who joined Nextdoor, sent an invite, recommended a local business or warmly greeted their neighbours with a wave. You have made Nextdoor a place where all Canadians are welcome.

Thanks to you, we’re growing fast. Here’s a map of Nextdoor’s fastest growing cities and towns:

Our first year in Canada has taught us that neighbourhoods are built on small, simple actions. We’ve seen the power neighbourhoods have when we tap into them — especially in unprecedented times like these. We’ve been moved by the change that can come from the smallest neighbourly gestures and how willing Canadians are to jump in and lend a helping hand to a neighbour in need.

Just in time for our one year anniversary in Canada, Nextdoor has introduced a brand new look and logo. Our new logo is inspired by you– our neighbours. It features a friendly, waving ‘n’ as our centrepiece which welcomes you every time you see it and reflects the gestures we see in neighbourhoods every day. Our Nextdoor Wave is both a warm welcome to all and a reminder that when we reach out to connect with those nearby, the possibilities are endless.

As we celebrate our first year, we want to hear about the simple things you and others do to play a part in your neighbourhood. You can submit a story about a neighbour who inspires you here. We’ll share some favourites in an upcoming blog post.

Until then, thank you again for making our first– and extremely unprecedented– year in Canada an inspiring one. We look forward to continuing to work together to strengthen our communities, spread kindness and build neighbourhood connections in the years to come.
