Halloween Just Got Easier: Nextdoor Debuts Halloween Treat Map

Written by Caroline Barrett

Halloween is the quintessential neighbourhood holiday – it is the perfect time to connect with your neighbours and rediscover what you love about the place you call home. With an estimated 3,924,041 children of prime trick-or-treating age (according to Stats Canada), we wanted to make it easy for you and your family to celebrate the most neighbourly holiday of the year. Nextdoor has launched a Halloween Treat Map to give you an insider’s guide to the best streets for treats in your neighbourhood.

Nextdoor’s Halloween Treat Map lets you mark your home with a candy icon to let your neighbourhood know you will be giving out candy. We are taking the guesswork out of Halloween to ensure you find the best, most convenient and safe route possible for your trick-or-treaters. Plan out your route in advance on web, or take the Treat Map on the go with you via our mobile app.

Participating is easy! To add your home to the Treat Map, follow these simple steps:

  1. If you’re already a Nextdoor member, simply sign into your account. If you are not yet a member, sign up and verify your address to ensure you don’t miss out on the fun: nextdoor.ca/treat.
  2. Once signed in, visit your neighbourhood map in the upper right-hand corner of your screen on web. If on mobile, tap the “More” menu in the bottom right hand corner of the navigation bar, then tap “Treat Map”. Once on the map, you will be given the choice to mark your home with a candy icon if you plan to pass out candy on Halloween.
  3. Encourage your neighbours and friends to mark their homes with the candy icon on the map so you’ll know exactly who is handing out treats.
  4. On Halloween, take the trick out of the treat and use the Treat Map to make your way through the neighbourhood to score the best candy and treats your neighbours have to offer.

Wishing all of our neighbours a fun-filled Halloween!
