2025 Nextdoor Ontario Jessica Moorhouse Book Giveaway Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. THIS GIVEAWAY IS SUBJECT TO ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL, PROVINCIAL, AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS AND IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. PARTICIPATION IN THIS GIVEAWAY CONSTITUTES FULL AND UNCONDITIONAL AGREEMENT WITH AND ACCEPTANCE OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES.

1. Eligibility. This 2025 Nextdoor Ontario Jessica Moorhouse Book Giveaway (this “Giveaway”) is open to individuals who, at the time of completing an Entry (defined below) are: (a) legal residents of Ontario; (b) the age of majority in Ontario; (c) Nextdoor members in good standing per the terms of Nextdoor’s Member Agreement located at https://help.nextdoor.com/s/article/Nextdoor-Member-Agreement?language=en_CA; and (d) able to correctly answer, unaided, an arithmetical, time-limited, skill testing question (STQ) (an “Entrant”). The following individuals are not eligible to enter or win the Prize (defined below): employees, representatives, agents, directors, and officers of Nextdoor Canada Ltd. (“Sponsor”) and parent, subsidiary, or affiliated companies (collectively, the “Sponsor Parties”) and each of the immediate family members of such excluded individuals (i.e., spouses, parents, children, siblings, in-laws, and, as applicable, the “steps” of each) and all persons living in the same household of each, whether or not related. By participating in this Giveaway, Entrants agree to be bound by these official rules (these “Official Rules”) and by the decisions of the Sponsor in all matters relating to this Giveaway. 

2. Giveaway Period. This Giveaway begins at 12:00:01 am Eastern Standard Time (EST) on January 29, 2025, and ends at 11:59:59 pm EST on February 8, 2025 (the “Giveaway Period”). 

3. How to Enter. During the Giveaway Period, comment on one or two of the Q&A Expert posts featuring finance expert Jessica Moorhouse (the “Post”) noting your favourite tip from the Post (each, an “Entry”). Limit one (1) Entry per Entrant. All Entries must be completed and received during the Giveaway Period. Sponsor’s internal time is the official time for this Giveaway.

4. Winner Selection and Notification. Winner selection will begin on or about February 8, 2025. Five (5) winners will be randomly selected from all eligible Entries received during the Giveaway Period. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible Entries received. Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner beginning on or about February 10, 2025, via the potential Prize winner’s Nextdoor member account (the “Notification”).  In order to win, the selected Entrants must correctly answer the STQ unaided.  As a condition of receiving a Prize, the potential winner must also sign and return any documents requested by Sponsor, including without limitation, a Declaration of Eligibility and Liability / Publicity Release (a “Declaration”). If the potential winner: (a) is determined to be ineligible; (b) fails to respond to the Notification within twenty-four (24) hours; (c) fails to correctly answer the STQ; (d) fails to return all required documentation fully executed within the specific period of time; (e) is not in compliance with these Official Rules; or (f) declines to accept a Prize, the potential winner forfeits a Prize in its entirety and an alternate winner will be selected based upon a random drawing of all remaining eligible Entries received during the Giveaway Period at Sponsor’s sole discretion. The properly claimed Prize will be awarded, but in no event will Sponsor award more prizes than provided for in the Official Rules. No compensation will be provided for a Prize that is not able to be awarded to a Prize winner. The Prize winner will be announced on or about February 10, 2025.

5. Prizes. This Giveaway Prize is one (1) physical copy of the book “Everything But Money: Everything But Money: The Hidden Barriers Between You and Financial Freedom” by Jessica Moorhouse (a “Prize”). Total approximate retail value (ARV) of one (1) Prize is Twenty-Five Canadian Dollars ($25.00 CAD); Total ARV of all five (5) Prizes is One Hundred Fifty Canadian Dollars ($150.00 CAD). Sponsor is responsible only for Prize delivery and is not responsible for Prize utility, quality, or otherwise. Any costs or expenses incurred by the winner in claiming or using the Prize is the sole responsibility of the winner.  The winner is also solely responsible for all federal, provincial, local, or other applicable taxes associated with the acceptance and use of the Prize. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the Prize of comparable or greater value in its sole discretion. Winners cannot substitute, transfer, or redeem the non-cash portion of the Prize for cash. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsor, other than that specified herein. All Prize details are at Sponsor’s sole discretion.

6. Disclaimer. The opinions shared in the Post reflect solely those of Jessica Moorhouse and not Sponsor. Sponsor does not provide financial, tax, legal, or accounting advice. The Post is provided for informational purposes only, and is not intended to provide, and should not be relied on for financial, tax, legal, or accounting advice. 7. Grant of Rights to Entries / Publicity Grant. By submitting an Entry, each Entrant grants to Sponsor and its licensees, successors, and assigns an irrevocable, perpetual, unlimited, royalty-free, fully paid-up license to reproduce, distribute, display, exhibit, exploit, perform, edit, create derivatives of, and otherwise use the Entry and all elements of such Entry, together with any other material, and the name, user name, city and province of residence, voice, image, and / or likeness of entrant (including, but not limited to, applicable profile photo), in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, in any manner, in whole or in part, worldwide, without compensation or notification to, or permission from, Entrant or any third party, for any purpose whatsoever, including without limitation, for purposes of advertising or trade. Released Parties (defined below) are not responsible for any unauthorized use of Entries by third parties. Sponsor has no obligation to make use of the rights granted herein. 

8. Limitation of Liability and Release. By participating in this Giveaway or accepting a Prize, each Entrant agrees that Sponsor Parties and their respective parents, subsidiaries, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by Entrants against, any liability, for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind, including death to persons or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse, or use of a Prize (including any injury or harm resulting from such use) or participation in this Giveaway. Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, stolen, altered, garbled, incorrect, illegible, postage-due, mutilated, incomplete, or delayed entries, emails, mail, or other communications, all of which will be void. Released Parties are also not responsible for problems related to unauthorized human intervention or for technical malfunctions of electronic equipment, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer hardware or software failures, phone lines, traffic congestion on the internet or any website, or for any other technical problems including telecommunication, miscommunication, or failure, and failed, lost, delayed, incomplete, garbled, or misdirected communications, which may prevent the receipt of an entry or otherwise limit an entrant’s ability to participate in this Giveaway.  Released Parties are not responsible for any other errors or malfunctions of any kind, whether network, printing, typographical, human, or otherwise relating to or in connection with this Giveaway, including, without limitation, errors or malfunctions which may occur in connection with the administration of this Giveaway, the processing of Entries, the announcement of the Prize or in any Giveaway-related materials.  As a condition of entering, each Entrant agrees (and agrees to confirm in writing if requested by Sponsor) that to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law: (i) under no circumstances will Entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and Entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, indirect, special, exemplary, or consequential damages; and (ii) that any and all claims, judgments, and award shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, excluding attorneys’ fees and court costs. Furthermore, as a condition of entering, each Entrant agrees that submission of an Entry constitutes permission to use the Entrant’s name, image, likeness, voice, biographical information, and any testimonial statement provided by Entrant for purposes of advertising, marketing, and trade, in any medium in connection with this Giveaway, without further notice, approval, or compensation, unless prohibited by law. 

9. LEGAL WARNING. ANY ATTEMPT BY AN INDIVIDUAL, WHETHER OR NOT AN ENTRANT, TO DELIBERATELY UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS GIVEAWAY IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND DILIGENTLY PURSUE ALL REMEDIES AGAINST ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. 

10. Sponsor’s Reservation of Rights. If this Giveaway is not capable of running as planned for any reason, including without limitation, due to a force majeure event or infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Giveaway, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who is responsible or who tampers with the Entry process or otherwise acts in violation of these Official Rules (and void all associated Entries), and cancel, modify, or terminate this Giveaway. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor reserves the right to award the Prize in its sole discretion based on all eligible, non-suspect Entries received prior to cancellation or as otherwise deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor. In the event that an Entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost or destroyed, Entrant’s sole remedy shall be another Entry into this Giveaway. Sponsor reserves the right to modify these Official Rules for clarification purposes, even after the Giveaway Period starts. 

11. Governing Law, Jurisdiction, and Severability. Except as set out below, all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, Entrants’ rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of Sponsor in connection with this Giveaway, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of State of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules. By entering, Entrants agree to the jurisdiction and venue of the state and local courts located in San Francisco, California, and the federal courts located in the Northern District of California for the resolution of all disputes, and agree that any and all disputes shall be resolved exclusively in those courts. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision. If any provision of these Official Rules is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck, and the remaining provisions shall be enforced. In the event of a conflict between these Official Rules and any marketing materials, these Official Rules will govern. 

12. Use of Data / Privacy. Except as otherwise stated in these Official Rules, personal information collected in connection with this Giveaway will be used for the administration of this Giveaway and in accordance with: (a) Nextdoor’s Member Agreement available at https://help.nextdoor.com/s/article/Nextdoor-Member-Agreement?language=en_CA; and (b) Nextdoor’s privacy policy available at https://help.nextdoor.com/s/article/Privacy-Policy?language=en_CA. By participating in this Giveaway, Entrants hereby agree to Sponsor’s collection and usage of their personal information and acknowledge that they have read and accepted Sponsor’s privacy policy. Any communication or information transmitted to Sponsor and / or the Nextdoor website by email or otherwise is and will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary.

13. Official Rules and Name of Winners. A copy of these Official Rules and winners’ names will be available at www.nextdoor.ca/bookgiveaway for one hundred twenty (120) days after this Giveaway ends.
